Moderator Bill of Rights

As a moderator, you are a respected member of the community you help lead. These are some things to keep in mind:

  1. You deserve respect
    • Members of the community must respect your authority.
  2. You have earned a badge of honor
    • This badge is recognition from the content creator that you are trusted.
    • You should be able to give consent before being elevated to moderator.
  3. Self-care is key
    • Before you care for the community, care for yourself.
    • You deserve breaks for refreshments and rejuvenation.
  4. Your time is valuable
    • Moderating, in most cases, is a volunteer activity.
    • Manage expectations with care.
  5. Take time to debrief
    • Moderating can be stressful.
    • Take time to wind down and release your thoughts.
  6. Respect the community
    • Without the community, there is nothing to moderate.
