Moderator Bill of Rights
As a moderator, you are a respected member of the community you help lead. These are some things to keep in mind:
- You deserve respect
- Members of the community must respect your authority.
- You have earned a badge of honor
- This badge is recognition from the content creator that you are trusted.
- You should be able to give consent before being elevated to moderator.
- Self-care is key
- Before you care for the community, care for yourself.
- You deserve breaks for refreshments and rejuvenation.
- Your time is valuable
- Moderating, in most cases, is a volunteer activity.
- Manage expectations with care.
- Take time to debrief
- Moderating can be stressful.
- Take time to wind down and release your thoughts.
- Respect the community
- Without the community, there is nothing to moderate.
